IP Services
Course Description
IP Services covers essential network services and protocols that support IP network operations. This course explains services like DHCP for address assignment, NAT/PAT for address translation, first hop redundancy protocols for gateway availability, and time synchronization protocols. You’ll learn how to configure, verify, and troubleshoot these services on Cisco devices, along with understanding advanced topics like IP SLA for network monitoring and BFD for fast failure detection.
Course Highlights
In this course, you will learn:
- Address resolution and assignment including ARP, RARP, DHCP server configuration, relay agents, static bindings, and DNS basics.
- Network Address Translation covering static, dynamic, and policy-based NAT/PAT, NAT Virtual Interface, and NAT ALG.
- First hop redundancy protocols including HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP for gateway availability.
- Time synchronization using Network Time Protocol (NTP) and Precision Time Protocol (PTP).
- Network performance monitoring with IP SLA and fast failure detection using BFD.
- Additional IP services including BOOTP, WCCP for transparent proxying, and using Cisco routers as hosts or servers.
- Troubleshooting techniques for DHCP, NAT/PAT, HSRP, VRRP, and NTP.
Presented to you by instructor Rene Molenaar, CCIE #41726.
Requirements
- Understanding of IP addressing, routing fundamentals, and basic Cisco IOS configuration.
