Wireless

Course Description

Wireless covers the fundamentals of wireless LAN technologies, security, and Cisco wireless architectures. This course explains how wireless networks operate, the different service sets and deployment models, and how to secure wireless communications. You’ll learn about Cisco wireless controllers, access point modes, authentication methods, encryption protocols, and best practices for high-density wireless environments.

Course Highlights

In this course, you will learn:

  • Wireless LAN fundamentals including 802.11 standards, service sets (IBSS, BSS, ESS), and Wi-Fi frequency bands and channels (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  • Cisco wireless architectures covering autonomous, unified, and cloud-based deployment models.
  • Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) deployment models, basic configuration, management, and access point modes.
  • Wireless security including threats, Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, WPA2, WPA3), and encryption protocols (TKIP, CCMP).
  • Authentication methods covering PSK, 802.1X, EAP variants, EAPOL, WPA key hierarchy, and 4-way handshake.
  • Advanced wireless topics including segmentation with profiles and tags, and high client density design and optimization.

Presented to you by instructor Rene Molenaar, CCIE #41726.
