Tuning
There are a lot of different options when it comes to tuning in networking. Tuning often is about improving network convergence. For example, on routers and switches, we can change the interface buffers to decrease the chance of packet drops. On the other hand, increasing the buffer might increase the delay which isn’t a good thing for VoIP packets. We can also change the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) on interfaces which allow larger packets. Most routing protocols also support tuning. For example, OSPF lets you change how often the SPF algorithm is used or how often we transmit LSAs. All lessons tagged with tuning are about improving network performance.
