Telnet

Telnet is a networking protocol that makes it possible to access a computer or network device remotely. Telnet is an official protocol and uses TCP port 23. It is an old protocol but still commonly used. One of the disadvantages of telnet however is that all traffic is sent in clear text, there is no encryption. Because of this, it is often replaced with SSH.
