PAT

PAT (Port Address Translation) is an extension to NAT (Network Address Translation). Instead of only translating IP addresses, we also include port number information. This allows multiple IP addresses to be translated to a single IP address. PAT will attempt to use the original source port number, when this is not possible it will use another source port number.
